Who Knew

October 27, 2018 by Finlay Porter

27/10/2018 – 5mins

Who knew

The one right in front of me….you.

It was you who knew all along and yet

Failed

To tell me what was staring me in the face all along.

Trust? Don’t speak to me about trust.

It washes away, silky, glistening in an alien manner.

Utterly illusive.

As the lights flash past the open windows, I think of

You again.

In front of me.

It was you. You who knew and could have said.

It is time to close the windows. The car lights remind me of

You and the agony you bring.

It is a cold night tonight.

The windows are shut. The headlights brighter than ever,

Flashing past and catching the corner of each minuscule drop of rain.

The drops race

Faster

Faster down the windows.

And in every one of them

I see you.
